The VSCPA is partnering with Virginia Business magazine for the 10th consecutive year to sponsor the “Super CPA” awards. This public awareness program recognizes extraordinary CPAs for their important contributions to the profession and the Commonwealth of Virginia. If you work for an accounting firm, use this ballot. This fall, SmartCEO will recognize more than 300 top CPAs in the Mid-Atlantic in its SmartCPA Readers Poll. Send your nominee's name, firm and practice area to dmills@smartceo.com by June 25, 2010. Multiple nominations are welcome.

Honor Top CPA Financial Leaders: Virginia CFO Award Nominations Due May 14

Nominations for the 2010 Virginia Business CFO Awards are due May 14, 2010.
 
This prestigious program is designed to honor CFOs (or those holding equivalent positions) whose ingenuity and dedication have led to success for their company, their staff and their professional career. Virginia Business will recognize five winners in the following categories:

Virginia publicly traded company
Large Virginia private company (100 employees or more)
Small Virginia private company (fewer than 100 employees)
Large Virginia nonprofit/government agency (100 employees or more)
Small Virginia nonprofit/government agency (fewer than 100 employees)

All nominations are due May 14, 2010. The winners will be announced at a special awards gala July 1, 2010, at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. The winners will also be profiled in a special cover story in an issue of Virginia Business magazine as well as various VSCPA publications.


The VSCPA remains dedicated to protecting and promoting the image of the CPA profession and all our members. VSCPA Member Named Among CFOs of the Year

Last night, the VSCPA was proud to sponsor the Fourth Annual Virginia Business Virginia CFO of the Year Awards. With nearly half of the VSCPA membership working in business and industry, it is essential that we support corporate finance professionals through programs and services like this prestigious event. Five individuals from nonprofit, private and public companies were recognized as the evening’s award winners. Eighteen VSCPA members were among those nominated, and Andrea M. Kilmer, CPA and VSCPA member, won in the small private company category. Chair of the VSCPA Board of Directors Jamie Walker and Chair-Elect Brad Jones also attended the ceremony, which had a record crowd of more than 350 attendees, and was held at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond.

As we all know, the past year has been tough for all businesses in Virginia, and the CFOs have been on the front lines in dealing with and working through the economic crisis. Last night was a rare opportunity to recognize the talents of our financial leaders and thank them for the expertise and professionalism they bring to our companies and communities in Virginia.
